Public Policy

To help the community better understand and address the needs of the homeless, Shelter Partnership conducts research and publishes studies. Research topics include the number of people homeless in Los Angeles County, the costs of operating homeless shelters, and a directory of short-term housing programs in Los Angeles County. Most recently, Shelter Partnership has been completing studies on the housing needs and preferences of special needs populations, including persons made homeless by domestic violence, emancipating foster youth and persons living with HIV/AIDS. For a list of completed studies, please visit our Publications page.

Shelter Partnership also works to educate and motivate local, state and national officials to create effective policy responses and consensus on the issue of homelessness. Toward this end, Shelter Partnership staff answer questions and respond to requests for in-depth information on the homeless population and needs. Shelter Partnership also speaks at meetings and events throughout Southern California, and is an important resource to the media.

Boards & Working Committees

To continue being a voice in the community and in the political arena, Shelter Partnership's Executive Director and Technical Assistance Staff stay actively involved in organizations and committees that work towards ending homelessness.
