Development Associate Job Announcement
Shelter Partnership is seeking a full-time Development Associate to assist the Development Director and the Executive Director in fundraising for the organization. 

Three core skill sets are vital and necessary for the successful candidate to possess for this position – 1) experience with foundation/corporation grants management, 2) events management and 3) experience managing high-achieving volunteers.  Candidates who apply for this position and cannot demonstrate some experience in ALL three of these key areas will not be considered.  In addition, the successful candidate will possess very strong attention to detail, be a strong writer and be adept at working with databases and managing donor information.  See below for further details on what each area entails. 

Responsibilities include:
Proposal Writing/Foundation and Corporate Relations
Work with Development Director to manage foundation and corporate grants, writing some proposals and working on reporting requirements as necessary.  Assist in prospect research. 

Event Management
Assist Development Director to coordinate all fundraising and logistics for the Annual Dinner, including communicating with Dinner Committee members and donors, managing event timeline, working with outside vendors, tracking and reporting all data (ticket sales, attendance, solicitations, sponsorships, income & expense budget), coordinating mailings and creating event materials (save the dates, solicitation, invitations, printed program, digital signage and giveaways).   Assist in planning and execution of annual warehouse lunch/reception event.

Associate Board Development
Function as main point of contact and staff advisor to our Young Professionals Associate Board.  Members range in age from mid 20s to mid 40s.  Advise and support in fundraising, event planning, and related activities. Coordinate recruitment of new Associate Board members. Oversee as necessary.

Donor Relations & Data Management
Manage donor data and reports in Donor Perfect and assist Development Director with ongoing research, cultivation and stewardship activities.

Writing/Mail Merge
Draft and edit written materials for direct mail appeals and major donors (letters, reports, proposals, and cultivation pieces).

Board Development
Provide fundraising-related support to the Board of Directors.  Assist Development Director with other activities such as scheduling meetings, preparing materials and taking minutes.

Communications 
Assist staff with management of social media accounts.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 2-3 years of proposal writing, fundraising and event management experience preferred.  This is NOT an entry level position. 
  • A Bachelors degree is required or qualified related work experience is acceptable.
  • Proficient in fundraising databases (preferably Donor Perfect but others are considered), email marketing systems and Microsoft office.  Mac experienced preferred. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Desire to learn about different channels of fundraising.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed, while also able to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Salary
Salary commensurate with experience.  Range is $52,500 to $65,000.  Shelter Partnership offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental and vision insurance, vacation and sick time, and a 401k plan.
