The on-going pandemic has affected Shelter Partnership in many ways. Most staff are working remotely, we can’t host volunteers at our warehouse, and our Development Department has had to rethink our Annual Gala.
With social distancing measures still in place this summer, and a live in-person event impossible, we pivoted to holding the Gala online for the second time.
Our friend and Board of Directors member Fritz Coleman was a major help in making it all work. He shot video for the virtual Gala at our warehouse and at a permanent supportive housing
project in South L.A. This year's Gala honored the work of our partners at City National Bank for their work combating Los Angeles homelessness. City National Bank Senior Vice President Sal Mendoza, who is a long-time friend of Shelter Partnership, accepted our honor on the Company's behalf. We also had virtual entertainment by comedians Brent Pella and Wendi Liebman! We even had a vocal performance by actress/entertainer Renée Lawless. There was something for everyone!
While we hope to be back in person next year, our virtual Gala was a major success! The event raised over $200,000 to support Shelter Partnership's mission.
