Annual Gala 2023 – Saying Goodbye to a Friend

Our 34 th Annual Gala in May found a new location to send off an old friend. This year’s event was held at the historic Wilshire Ebell for the first time – and probably not the last. The classic L.A. venue was the perfect place to honor Rev. Andy Bales and his career at Union Rescue Mission on Skid Row. Andy has been a close friend of Shelter Partnership’s for decades. We were lucky to be among the first to say thank you and goodbye to Andy before he retires back home to Iowa.

Grammy Award-winning pianist Russell Ferrante classed up the reception with his jazz trio. MC Fritz Coleman hosted an entertaining program that featured a performance by comedian Don McMillan.
